Exterior Details and Drywall

Progress on the interior continues, while the last of the exterior finishes are being completed. We can see the finish line and there has been some chatter about a completion date...we would love to be eating leftover turkey sandwiches in the cabin. :)

Over the last week, the drywall was hung and the mudding and taping should take place this week. This is a shot of the dining room:

Media room...and yep, that's a tub.

The landing for the stairwell leading from the main level to the lower level. It will be cool to have the two spaces connected since they've been separate for the entire project.

The majority of the exterior finishes are complete. The below is a small kick-out wall separating the deck and front entry walkway. We've been assured/warned that birds will make nests on top of this little wall. :)

This is what it looks like from the other side:

We are liking the way the shadows play on the metal siding:

Tim and Co. installed a metal soffit at the sliders on the lower level. We weren't sure how we'd like that but it looks great in person.

We decided to camp on our last trip. It was really cold at night, but the fall scenery was incredible. Below is a image from our campsite with Lucky Jim's Bluff in the background:

More Soffit and Railing Shots

In order to save small children, clumsy pets, and intoxicated adults from falling off our deck, we decided to follow OSHA's regs and get railings installed outside. They're looking good! You may notice in the background the dirt path/driveway through the woods. This marks the location of the pipes leading to the drain field on the lower portion of the property.

We are really enjoying the look of the fir soffit, especially when you can see it running from the interior to the exterior of the house. These next few images show the soffit prior to being stained.

The newly installed front door.

A friend of Tim's painted this sign. Pretty cool!
